Linda Holbert

Linda Jane Mills Holbert, age 64, passed away Friday May 20, 2011 at her residence after several months of declining health.

She was born in Bartow County, Georgia on November 17, 1946, daughter of the late Jack Harold Mills and Mollie Hardin Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Christopher Holbert, two sisters, Margaret Davis and Mildred Mathison and a nephew, Vance Sullivan.

Linda was a member of the Sugar Valley Church of God. She had been employed at Clayton Miller in the accounting department and had served as Controller and Vice President at Options Tai Ping. She was a smart businesswoman, doing freelance bookkeeping and owning several businesses of her own over the years.

She had a real heart for the needy and the downtrodden. She never neglected an opportunity to help, whether it was supplying groceries or clothes, paying their rent or utilities, providing furniture, or paying for a motel room when necessary.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie Van Houten and her husband Glen; a son, Blake Holbert and his wife Laura; four grandsons, Corey Holbert and his wife LeAnn, Dallas Van Houten, Dalton Van Houten and Hunter Holbert; a granddaughter, Megan Holbert; three great-granddaughters, Karman Holbert, Riley Holbert and Maggie Holbert; two sisters, Eleanor Sullivan and Opal Powers; two brothers, Zedick Mills and Zenick Mills; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Linda Jane Mills Holbert will be conducted Sunday, May 22nd at 3:00 PM from the Sugar Valley Church of God, with Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Church of God Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving are Eddie Mills, Terry Tidwell, Mylon Holbert, Mike Holbert, Josh Holbert, Bill Howard and Matt Ball.

The Holbert family will receive friends Saturday between the hours of 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
