Mrs. Linda Sue Pierce, age 63 of Calhoun, GA died Friday, November 11, 2011 at her residence following several months of declining health. She was born in Whitfield County on January 24, 1948, daughter of Sallie Ball Ralston and the late Thomas E. Welch. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cline Pierce, and two brothers, Allen Welch and Ed Ball.
Linda had been employed in the textile industry for many years with Shaw Industries and later with Mannington Mills' JBC Yarn Mill. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved her roses.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Dawn Pierce of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dewayne Aldridge of Calhoun; four brothers, Bobby Welch and his wife Cynthia of Chatsworth, GA, Rickey Welch and his wife Gina, Ronnie Welch, and Danny Ball and his wife Pam, all of Dalton; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Trammell Caldwell of Dalton, Elizabeth and Joe Lawless of Dalton, and Charolette and Donnie Scott of Tennessee. Grandchildren surviving are Breanna Pierce, Slader Pierce, Brantson Pierce, Kimberly Aldridge, Pierce Aldridge, Alyssa Aldridge, Michael Brown, and Morgan Long; and a great-grandchild due in December of 2011, Michael Wyatt Pierce. Other survivors are her very special friends, Pat McEntire, Sandra, Marci, and Mark Welch, and her beloved Chihuahua Peppy. Thirty-nine nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Sue Pierce will be held Monday, November 14th at 4:30pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Dutton officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Bobby Welch, Slader Pierce, Branston Pierce, Ronnie Welch, Dewayne Aldridge, and Michael Brown. Honorary escort will be employees of Mannington Mills' JBC Yarn Mill.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
