Lloyd Bowen Jr

Mr. Lloyd Bowen, Jr. age 76 of Resaca, Georgia died Thursday morning, April 12, 2007 at his residence, following several months of illness.

Mr. Bowen was born on January 16, 1931 in Gordon County, son of the late Lloyd R. Bowen, Sr. and Julia Belle Casey Bowen. He was also preceded in death by son, David Anthony Bowen in 1972. During his lifetime, he served his country with the United States Air Force, had worked for King Ford Tractor and was a retired farm equipment mechanic. Mr. Bowen was a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Resaca.

Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sisson Bowen to whom he was married for 54 years; one daughter; Vickie Angela Cooper of Resaca; grandsons; Anthony Fox and his wife, Mandy of Rome, Mark Fox of Calhoun, and Kevin Fox of Resaca; a great grandson; Ashton Fox of Rome, Georgia; four sisters; Elizabeth Everette of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Elsie Holbert, Wynene Bowen and Mary Nell Towers all of Calhoun; two brothers; Richard Bowen and Dale Bowen both of Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Lloyd Bowen, Jr. will be conducted Friday at 3:00 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Singing will be arranged by Jon Heard and Jimmie Lou Allen. Active pallbearers serving will include; Gary Holbert, Roger Powell, Michael Sisson, Gary Owen, Lamar Fox and Harry Darby. Honorary pallbearers serving will include; Sanford Sisson, Coy Coggins, Rev. Vernon Pulliam, Jim Williams and Brother Sammy Allen. Burial will follow the service in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Sammy Allen conducting the graveside service.
