Obituary

Marjorie Deloris "Lois" Hand, 81, of Rydal, GA, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. She was born in Climax, GA on October 22, 1937, daughter of the late Oscar Royce Godwin and the late Edith Kavelle (Kate) Chason Godwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Godwin.
Lois had lived in Calhoun for the majority of her adult life. She considered Calhoun home. She and her husband owned several businesses, and ministered to many at Gordon Health Care. She always had a smile on her face, and a kind and encouraging word for all.
She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Lamar Hand; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Kim Hand; her daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Rampy, and Karen Moss; her grandchildren, Blake (Kelly) Rampy, Katie (Randy) May, Kristen (TJ) Thomason, Kent Hand, Truett Moss III, and Alexis Moss; Her great-grandchildren, Megyn Rampy, Molly Rampy, Fisher Thomason, and Bodie Thomason; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Cheryl Godwin, and Steve and Nancy Godwin; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Edgar Weathersby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Belmont Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 29th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, May 30th at 4:00 PM at Brinson Cemetery in Brinson, GA. Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Keith Reid will officiate. Pallbearers serving will include Blake Rampy, Truett Moss III, Kent Hand, Larry Hand, Steve Miller, and Jeff Rampy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimers Research, 922 E. Morris St., Dalton, GA 30721, Attn: Freda Stephenson, in honor of Lois.
The family would like to give special thanks to Sandra Strickland, Kathy Romine, Threda Pullium, and Sandy Goble and the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
