Obituary

Lois Jeannette Garland Welchel, 78, of Plainville, GA, died Sunday, August 4, 2019 following several years of declining health. She was born in Cherokee County, GA on July 2, 1941, daughter of the late Sanford (Bob) and Rose Silvers Garland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Silvanus (Shorty) Welchel, and her brother, Jimmy Garland.
Lois was retired from Mohawk Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Diann Johns and her husband Roger of Plainville; her grandchildren, April Hudson and her husband Jason, and Matthew Johns, all of Plainville; her brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Lorene Garland of Calhoun; her sisters, Doris Southerland of Rome, and Linda Barber of Plainville; her sister-in-law, Jane Garland of Plainville; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7th at 11:00 AM from Scott Cemetery in Plainville, with Bro. Floyd Tenney officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Matthew Johns, Jason Hudson, Vaughn Garland, Don Garland, Clyde Garland, and Ronnie Jones.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 6th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
