Mr. Luis Franklin Calvo, Sr. age 67 of Calhoun, Georgia died Monday, November 12, 2007 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia following a brief illness.
Mr. Calvo was born on January 6, 1940 in Costa Rica, son of Rita Cruz Calvo and the late Santiago Calvo. He was a retired Chef for Gordon Hospital and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Spanish Church.
Mr. Calvo is survived by his wife, Cristina Mireya Gonzalez Calvo, to whom he was married for 45 years; one daughter, Marlene Melendez of Calhoun; three sons, Frank Calvo, Jr. of Calhoun, Kevin Calvo of Dalton, and Franklin Daniel Mora, Jr. of Costa Rica; mother, Rita Calvo of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Flory Ruiz of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two brothers, Santiago Calvo and Juan Bautista Calvo, both of Los Angeles, California; and grandchildren, Rebecca Velasquez of Calhoun, Joshua Calvo of Costa Rica and Jantzen Calvo of Dalton, Georgia. Three grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Luis Franklin Calvo, Sr. will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Elder Manuel Rosales officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Kevin Calvo, Frank Calvo, Larry Gonzalez, Jose Funes, Francisco Velasquez and Jorge Sanabria. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 2:15 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Thursday and Friday between the hours of 2:00pm and 9:00pm.
