Louise Holmes Davis

Mrs. Louise Holmes Davis, age 77 of West Line Street, Calhoun went home to be with her Lord on Saturday January 5th, following seven months of declining health.

Mrs. Davis was born in Gordon County on July 5th, 1930, the daughter of the late Bill and Minnie Silvers Holmes. She was a housewife and mother who loved and enjoyed being with her family and she loved to sew and make clothing and quilts. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by two brothers, Vance Holmes and Charles Holmes. She was employed many years at Nell's Nursery and was a member of Riverview Drive Baptist Church, and served as the church and Sunday school treasurer for 39 years.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Davis, to whom she was married 58 years. One daughter, LeGaina Sutherland and her husband Kurt of Calhoun; three sons, Alan Davis and his wife Sandy; Tony Davis and his wife Melanie and Steve Davis all of Calhoun, and one brother Olen Holmes of Calhoun. Eight Grandchildren; Todd, Chad, Chris, Blake, Kaylee and Tristin Davis, all of Calhoun, and Darah and Dalynn Moss of Calhoun, and one step grandson, Aaron Sutherland of Calhoun. Five great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Louise Holmes Davis will be held Monday January 7th at 11:00 AM, from Riverview Baptist Church with Rev. Winford Casey, Rev. Harold Blackstock and Rev. Jamey Hunt officiating. Music will be arranged by the church choir with interment to follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Greg Montgomery, Kenneth Price, Glen Smith, Tony Timms, Kenneth Owens and Bert Smith. The Rays of Hope Senior Adults of Riverview Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
