Louise Nix Johnson

Mrs. Louise Nix Johnson, a lifelong resident of Gordon County, died at her home on Friday, March 7, 2008. She was 88 years old.

Louise was born on August 11, 1919, daughter of the late Samuel Frank Nix and the late Elma Blankenship Nix. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 55 years, Leon Johnson, in 1995. Louise was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. She attended Sonoraville Baptist Church and was a 1937 graduate of Sonoraville High School.

Louise is survived by her sons, Jerry Johnson and his wife Mildred, and Michael Johnson and his wife Shirley; her daughters, Juanita Wilson and Margaret Bohannon and her husband Wayne; grandchildren, Allen Wilson, Brent Jones, Julie Dickey, Tennille Brown, and Liza Allen; great-grandchildren, Taylor Martin, Nathan Dickey, Victoria Brown, Amber Dickey, William Brown, and Isaac Allen; her great-great grandson, Damon Martin; her brother, Marvin Nix; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Sonoraville Baptist Church. Her body will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Committal services will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Skates will officiate. Music will be arranged by Ron Hammontree and Elaine Skates. Pallbearers are Julian Nix, William Nix, Robert Paris, Tommy Phillips, Kenneth Leonard, and Louie McEntyre.
