Louise Wheat Luffman

Mrs. Louise Wheat Luffman, age 93 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Whitfield County on August 26, 1915, daughter of the late Berry Wheat and Jenny Mae Sailors Wheat.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Luffman was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Walter Pinion, her husband Robert Lee Luffman; brothers, Pete Wheat, J.B. Wheat, and Berry Wheat, Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lula Bell and Joe Kersey, a brother-in-law, Paul Defore; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Sue Pinion of Dalton, Ronnie and Charolette Luffman of Rome, and Ricky and Debbie Luffman of Calhoun; four daughters, Mary Ann Schild and her husband Wayne of Douglasville, Devon Wofford and her husband Earl of Dalton, Carolyn Bonlinger and her husband Eddie of Colorado, and Jackie Pinion of Florida; two sisters, Robbie Defore of Calhoun, and Genevia Fisher and her husband Bernard of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Doris Wheat and Hattie Wheat of Dalton, and Doris Wheat. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Wheat Luffman will be conducted Thursday, January 1 at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Whitfield County. Active pallbearers will include Chris Schild, Josh Wofford, Jeff Wofford, Richard Luffman, Jr., Terry Kendrick, and Kenny Pinion. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Thursday at 10:15am. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Waldon, Michael Robertson, and Avery McFalls, and they are asked to meet at the funeral home Thursday at 10:45am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday after 6:00pm.
