Obituary

Loyd Vance Reece, life- long resident of the Ranger Community departed his life,Friday, July 24, 2020 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 27, 1932 in Calhoun, Georgia to the late Vess Reece and Laura Henderson Reece. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Sue Coggins and ex-wife, Patricia Timms Reece Jackson. Loyd was the youngest of five children and preceded in death by all siblings, his sisters and brother-in-laws, Eavy Laura Reece, Veneter Reece Pritchett and Fred Pritchett, Pauline Reece Payne and D.A. Payne; his brother and sister-in-law, Price "Junior' Reece and Syble Tatum Reece. Loyd was also preceded in death by one niece and two nephews.
Loyd retired from Bowater with 38 years of service, of which, most were spent running the woodyard in Ranger. He was a Christian and a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Rydal. He was an avid watcher and reader of western movies and novels. His favorite actor was John Wayne, "The Duke". He has most likely saw every Bonaza episode fifty times each. He was a loving Father, PawPaw, and Great-PawPaw with a heart of gold. He will forever be missed.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Patrickand Kris Reece, Wade Reece, Courtney and April Timms; daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Jamie Bearden; grandchildren, Emily Reece, Zachary and Stacy Grantham, Crystal Reece, Cynthia and Michael Farmer, Bodie Timms, Oren Timms, Greyson Timms, Keller Timms, and Hunter Bearden; a very special nephew, Robert Payne. He is also survived by many great and great-great grandchildren, as well as, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 27, 2020 in the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home from 12:00PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Faith Tabernacle Church. Burial will follow in Faith Tabernacle Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Gavin Reece, Richard Reece, Ronnie Reece, Jerrold Young, Michael Farmer, and Zachary Grantham, honorary pallbearers serving include; Trammel Reece and Robert Payne.
