Lucius Donald Bryant

Mr. Lucius Donald (Buddy) Bryant, age 83 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Heartland Hospice in Cartersville. He was born in Gordon County on February 6, 1926, son of the late Hoyt Donald and Gwendolyn Prater Bryant. Mr. Bryant was retired from Venture Carpet as Production Control Manager, and was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church.

He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Marines, was a recipient of the Purple Heart, and a member of the American Legion Post 43.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Bryant and Evelyn Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Emmie Lou Bryant; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Edwin Morrison, Susan and Richard Cantrell, and Julie and Bud Smith, all of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Lucius Donald (Buddy) Bryant will be conducted Saturday, July 4 at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers will include Richard Cantrell, Bud Smith, Russell Thomas, Heath Duke, Jimmy Jones, and Donnie Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Prater and Ronnie Prater.

The Bryant family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm.
