Luther Hamrick

Mr. Luther Hamrick, age 87 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014. He was born in Pickens County, GA on August 30, 1926, to the late Les Hamrick and Mattie Cannon Hamrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Young Hamrick; three brothers, Leoy Hamrick, Arthur Hamrick, and Linzy Hamrick; four sisters, Loler Jones, Lois Dale, Mrytle Weaver, and Lucilee Smith; and two daughters-in-law, Brenda Hamrick and Sandra Hamrick.

During his lifetime, Mr. Hamrick was employed with Georgia Textile, Gold Kist, and was a Farmer. He served during WWII in the Navy. He was a member of the Freedom House of Worship.

He leaves behind six sons, Jerry Hamrick, Freeman and his wife Jenny Hamrick, Leon Hamrick, Ronnie Hamrick, Billy Hamrick, and Tommy Hamrick, all of Calhoun, GA; five daughters, Willene Hamrick, Imogene Pack and her husband Richard, Geraldine Young, Kathlene Bohana and her husband Rusty, and Darlene Hamrick, all of Calhoun; a brother, Edward Hamrick of Canton; two sisters, Louise Miller of Tate, and Emolise Carver of Jasper; fifteen grandchildren, Gary Hamrick, Pam Green, Gail Hamrick, Chris Pack, April Flowers, Tony Hamrick, Kim Terry, Paula Wheaton, Katie Young, Rebecca Cruisinberry, Dena Ducas, Christopher Buttrum, Adam Hamrick, Kisha McCoy, and Nickey Derrick. Twenty three great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Luther Hamrick will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Freedom House of Worship, 102 Crest Drive, Calhoun, with Rev. Richard Pack and Rev. Chris Pack officiating. Music will be arranged by "Traveling by Faith". Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County. Active pallbearers will include Joey Wheaten, Mark Flowers, Adam Hamrick, Michael Green, David Gallagher, and Austin Green. Honorary pallbearers will include Henry Adams, Jordan Green, Marquis Terry, Howard Pack, and Cody Flowers.

The Hamrick family will receive friends at Freedom House of Worship Friday from 12:00 PM till 9:00 PM.
