Mrs. Mable Bernice Driggers, age 94 of Calhoun, GA died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Gordon Health Care Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Driggers was born on August 20, 1918 in Florence, South Carolina, daughter of the late Walker Adolph Grier and Sarah Nena Wilson Grier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Cain; her second husband, George Thomas Driggers; children, Jera Ward and Ann Siebert; grandchildren, Justin Hiles, Paul Cain, James D. Cain, Jr.; and by sisters, Maxine Grier, Mary Phillips and Miona Lawson,
During her lifetime, she retired from the textile industry and was the oldest member of Echota Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, James D. Cain, Sr. and his wife Betty of Calhoun; Steve Cain and his wife Charlotte of Rome, New York; Patricia Molar and her husband David of Johns Island, South Carolina; Bill Cain and his wife Lynn of Florence, South Carolina; Ronnie Duke and Lonnie Driggers, both of Ladson, South Carolina; Priscilla Condiff and her husband Mark of Snellville, GA; Bunny Cain Loftis and her husband Jim of Charleston, South Carolina; and Donnie Driggers of Ladson, South Carolina; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; six great great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from the South Carolina and Georgia area.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Bernice Driggers will be conducted Friday, February 1, 2013 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Music will be arranged by Randy Jones.
The Driggers family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 10:00 am until the service hour of 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in Mrs. Driggers' honor to the Echota Baptist Church Building Fund.
