Mr. Mac Willix, age 72 of Calhoun, died Saturday evening, July 9, 2016 at his residence following several months of declining health.
Mr. Willix was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, son of the late Virgil and Dorothy Fortner Willix. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous medals and commendations for his service. He was retired from Mohawk Industries. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Willix.
Survivors include a nephew, Michael Willix; along with his caregivers, Linda and Jim Dale; several cousins, and other relatives.
A service to honor the life of Mac Willix will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. David Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with Eddie Brannon in charge of the committal service. Pallbearers serving will include Tony Nicholson, Jim Dale, Lamar Franks, Tim Duvall, Lamar Benton, Mike Jones, and Sonny Willis.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 11th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
