Mack Silvers

Rev. Mack Silvers, age 82 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at his residence following six months of illness.

He was born on November 2, 1927 in Murray County, son of the late William and Beulah Corn Silvers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Mary Marie Cox Silvers; two sons, Travis and Wayne Silvers; two brothers, John and Jay Silvers; a great grandson, Dekota; and a son-in-law, Gary Sisson. Rev. Silvers was founder and pastor of Faith and Deliverance Church in Resaca. During his lifetime, he had owned and operated the Calhoun Furniture Store.

Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Silvers Sisson; a son, Larry Silvers and his wife Lonna, all of Calhoun; sisters, Dorothy Bannester, Lucille Elrod and her husband Hershel, Patsy Duckett, and Geraldine Wilson all of Chatsworth; and a brother, Bill Silvers of Dalton. Thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Rev. Mack Silvers will be conducted Saturday at 2:00pm from the Faith and Deliverance Church, with Rev. David Nix and Rev. Edward Silvers officiating. Music will be arranged by Renewed. Active pallbearers serving will include Kenny Long, Steve Long, Scott Long, Randy Dowdy, Caleb Egenes and Shane Cordle. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott Silvers, Larry Silvers, Justin Silvers, Dewayne Silvers, Adam Silvers, Gary Sisson and Cory Sisson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Silvers will lie in state at the Faith and Deliverance Church on Thursday, from 4:00pm until 9:00pm, and on Friday from 2:00pm until 9:00pm.
