Madelyn "Madge" Boswell Blalock of Plainville passed away October 30, 2009, at age 92. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Groover Blalock of Plainville. The Blalocks had been married for 58 years at the time of Mr. Blalock's death in 2002.
She is survived by daughters Melba Nicholson and Paula Blalock; a son, Rodney Blalock; sons-in-law, Gerald Nicholson and Jonathan Hershey; a daughter-in-law, Lori Blalock; grandchildren, Blake Nicholson (and wife Tammy), Robin Walker (and husband Dean), Bo Nicholson (and wife Christy), Maleah Bailey, and Ryan Blalock; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Maddie Roberts, and Stone and L.J. Nicholson. Madge Blalock was a lifelong member of the Plainville United Methodist Church.
Madge Blalock was the daughter of the late Henry Boswell and Cora Miller Boswell, both of Plainville. She was one of six children and was the last surviving sibling. She was retired from Swain Elementary School where she tutored reading for many years. Madge Blalock had a special gift for plants. Her ferns were always the most beautiful every year. She loved animals, especially her beloved dog Tinker. She adored her 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and she was always eager to visit with them and hear news of their activities.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Plainville United Methodist Church. The service will take place at the church at 3:00 p.m. Ministers officiating at the service are Ronnie Hudson and Wayne Williams. Music will be arranged by Amber Lee. Active pallbearers will be Wyman Autry, Henry Ayers, Ray Black, Drexel Fuller, Lyndon Langston, Ron McCall, Ricky McEntyre, and Randy Seabolt. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Archer, Phil Boswell, Lex Floyd, Kenneth Wright, Gary Reese, Miles Scott, Melanie Parker Clark, and Sabrina Avery. Interment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 146 Bethesda Church Rd NE, Calhoun, alongside her late husband.
