Mamie Ferguson Burnett

Mrs. Mamie Burnett, age 78 of Alapaha, GA passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009. She was born in Floyd County, GA on June 9, 1931, daughter of the late Daniel Lee Ferguson and Dicie Didena Johnson Ferguson.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Eugene Burnett; a step-daughter, Catherine Ponder; brothers, David Lee Ferguson and Cleve Ferguson; and a sister, Peggy Gaylor.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Burnett had been employed by the Shepherd Motel, and was a member of the Alapaha Baptist Church.

Survivors include two step-sons, Larry Burnett of Calhoun, and Michael Burnett of Chatsworth; two step-daughters, Linda Crump and Donna England, both of Calhoun; nieces, Loretta Scott, Teresa Bernstein, Rebecca Ferguson, Debbie Ferguson, and Linda Kelley; and nephews, Johnny Ferguson, Willard Ferguson, Steve Ferguson, Tim Ferguson, Keith Holt, and Wayne Gaylor. Twelve step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Burnett will be conducted Wednesday, September 9 at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ernest Channell and Rev. Tim Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
