Mrs. Mamie Louise Cook, age 88 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Gordon Health Care Center.
Mrs. Cook was born on May 17, 1920 in Fort Payne, Alabama, daughter of the late Henry Ellis Garmon and Viola Florence Wilkerson Garmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Clyde Cook, and a son-in-law, Jack Hufstetler. Mrs. Cook had been a foster parent for over 40 years and was of the Church of God faith.
Mrs. Cook is survived by five daughters; Margurite Hufstetler of Calhoun, Dorothy Quarles and her husband Joe of the Nicklesville Community, Teresa Cline of Calhoun, Susie McEntyre and her husband Kevin of Calhoun, and Sandra Cook of Calhoun; three brothers, Robert Garmon and his wife Opal of Cartersville, Audrey Rayburn of Calhoun, and Bob Yarbrough and his wife Naomi of Kentucky. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Louise Cook will be conducted Friday at 11:00a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Quarles and Brother Lamar Hand officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Joey Quarles, Jeff Quarles, Heath York, Michael Quarles, Houston Dutton, Hunter Quarles, Joe Quarles, Tim Quarles and Robert Jones. Interment will follow the service at the Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Thursday evening during the hours of 4:30p.m. and 9:00p.m.
