Mamie Serritt

Mrs. Mamie Serritt, age 83 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Gordon Health Care Center. She was born in Colquitt County, GA on October 30, 1926, daughter of the late Rev. Harvey and Mary Williams Wilson, and had been a resident of Gordon County since 1935. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Miller; a son, Terry Miller; and four sisters, Lois Williams, Fannie Thacker, Otella Bramblett, and Ruth Woody.

Mrs. Serritt was retired from the Super D in Calhoun, and was a member of the South Calhoun Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Mack D. Serritt; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Sandra Miller; Jerry and Faith Miller, and Stephen and Tammy Miller, all of Calhoun; a sister, Roxy Holland of Calhoun; and step-children, Roger Serritt and his wife Sheryl, Ricky Serritt and his wife Teresa, Nathan Serritt and his wife Miranda, and Diane Wilson and her husband Tyrone, all of Calhoun. Four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Serritt will be conducted Saturday, November 28 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Clifford Free and Bro. Lamar Hand officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Lamar Bramblett, William Holland, Jamie Miller, Anthony Henry, Dan Folkner, and Wes Thacker. The Faithful Workers Sunday School Class of South Calhoun Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday after 6:00pm.

At Mrs. Serritt's request, flowers are to be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
