Mrs. Marcel Thomason, age 66 of Rome, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 following an extended illness.

She was born on February 10, 1944 in Gordon County, daughter of the late James William Wilson and Mary Rebecca Bowens Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Wilson. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Thomason is survived by the father of their children, Douglas Thomason; two daughters, Carol Simerly and her husband Tony of Rome, and Rita Sartin and her husband Roger of Chatsworth; a son, Donald Thomason and his wife Bobbie of Chatsworth; three sisters, Linda Faye Thomason and Becky England both of Calhoun, and Joyce Flannery of Bristol, Tennessee; and two brothers, Frank Wilson of Oakman, and Travis Wilson of Calhoun. Seven grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marcel Thomason will be conducted Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. William Silvers officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Ken Waddell conducting the committal service. Pallbearers serving will include Cleve Corley, Cody Chastain, Marshall Watson, and Daniel Sartin. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday morning from 9:00am until the funeral hour.
