Marcelle Freeman

Mrs. Marcelle Mathews Freeman, 72 of the Sonoraville Community, died Saturday, July 16, 2016 at her home. She was born in Pickens County, GA on April 18, 1944, daughter of the late George and Lily Mae Childers Mathews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Elzie Freeman in 2005, after 40 years of marriage; her son, Christopher Freeman; a great-grandson, Kylan Johnston; brothers, Cliff Mathews and Claude Mathews; and sisters, Pauline Crook and Dorothy Grizzle.

Mrs. Freeman was retired from Springs Industries.

She leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Howard Pack, Robin and Lamar Randolph, Kim and Timmy Angel, and Heather Freeman and Anthony Long, all of Calhoun; stepsons, Steve Freeman, Ricky Freeman and his wife Sherry, and Paul Freeman and his wife Brenda, all of Calhoun; and brothers, Steve Mathews of Gilmer County, and Lloyd Mathews and Herb Mathews of Pickens County. Grandchildren surviving are Josh Randolph, Timothy Angel, Christopher Angel, Daniel Smith, Victoria Boswell, Amber McBurnett, Brandon Long, Breanna McNeil, Jalynn Edge, Callie Long, Donna Petty, Angie Davis, Michael Freeman, Penny Butler, Marsha Thibodeau, Terry Freeman, and Shannon Freeman. Numerous great-grandchildren also survive.

Services to honor the life of Mrs. Marcelle Mathews Freeman will be held Wednesday, July 20th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Delmar Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Terry Freeman, Brandon Long, Josh Randolph, Timothy Angel, Tyler Boswell, Daniel Smith, and Christopher Angel.

The Freeman family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday, July 18th and 19th, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
