Mr. Marcus York, 39, of Calhoun, died on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Marcus was born in Rome on August 13, 1976. He was an avid motorcycle rider; in 1993 he was fourth in the nation in the Loretta Lynn Motocross Competition. He attended Red Bud High School and graduated from Gordon Central. Marcus worked at Mannington Mills. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman York, in 2007.
Survivors are his sons, Austin York, of Calhoun, and Aspen York, of Marietta; his mother, Peggy Holland and her husband James, of Calhoun; Rita York; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Debbie West, Mitchell and Gina West, and Heath and Vonda York; his sisters, Stephanie Holbrook and Tania Quinn; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The York family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Jackson, Timmy Walker, Noah Brooks, Darren Langston, Jason Broome and Garrett Howell. Honorary pallbearers are his fellow riders.
