Margaret King Davis

Margaret King Davis, 80, of Calhoun, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018 at her home, following an extended illness. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on April 28, 1937, daughter of the late James B. and Margueritte Williams King, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Lynn Davis; and her brother, James B. King, Jr.

Margaret King Davis accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized in 1962. She graduated from Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida in Religious Education on May, 12, 1969. After moving to Calhoun, she transferred her church membership to Echota Baptist Church in 1980 serving several years as their Educational Director where she taught certified Bible classes. She also continued to serve as a Sunday School teacher into 2016 when she resigned due to illness. Also, during her lifetime, Mrs. Davis had worked for GA Tufters, then Shaw Industries, for 34 years, retiring in 2007.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa D. Martin and Joseph M. Brown, Jr., of Rome, GA, and Melinda K. Davis and Scott Padgett of Chatsworth, GA; her son, Michael Lynn Davis, of Ft. Valley, GA; her sister, Jean F. DAmour of Vail, Arizona; and grandchildren, July Independence Martin Russell and her husband Ryan, Nathan Eli Harford, and Matthew James Harford; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Gratham; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Claire Davis; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at the Davis home on Saturday, January 20th from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at 198 Iracille Lane NE, Calhoun, GA 30701.

A graveside funeral service for Margaret King Davis will be held Sunday, January 21st at 2:00 PM at Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with Rev. Randy Davis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Echota Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1315, Calhoun, GA 30703.
