Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Johns Lewis, age 76 of the Sugar Valley Community, died May 19, 2020 at Gordon Hospital. Mrs. Lewis was born in Gordon County, Ga. on March 26, 1944 to the late B.W. Johns and Cora Lee Goforth Johns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 children; Harvey, Kathrine, and 3 miscarriages that she never forgot, and always included them when asked how many children she had. Brothers; Leroy and Wesley Johns, sisters; Malisey Dutton, Edna Kenney, Betty Freeman, Ruth Muse, and Martha Dutton; and 2 sons-in-law; Jeff Sluder and Rene Boudreau. She was a member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church for 39 years. She loved camp meetings at Faith Baptist Camp where she would always work in the kitchen (washing dishes), was an avid reader of God's word, and loved her church and church family. She loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them as often as she could. She was loved by many people. Mrs. Lewis was as faithful as they come. Always steady, consistent, organized and very hard working. She was one of a kind and has left behind a void in the hearts of her family that can only be filled by the peace and comfort that only Jesus can give.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vernon Lewis. Daughters and son in laws; Barbara Foster and her husband Silas, Emma Boudreau, Bonnie Jackson and her husband Anthony, Bertha Poarch and her husband Cameron and Melba Hall and her husband Jeff. Grandchildren surviving include Paul, Jesse, Titus, Tabitha, Naomi, Joseph and Silvanus Foster, Daniel Lewis and his wife Sha, Megan Ledford and her husband Matthew, Alisha Cowan and her husband Ben, Dakota Jackson, Siera Patterson and her husband Aaron, Brandon and Savannah Scoggins, Leelu Bryant and her husband Robert, and Leroy Hall. Also surviving are great grandchildren Kaylee and Kyle Lewis, Matthew, Emma and Sophia Ledford, Ben, Savannah, Daniel and Jax Cowan, Dawson, Chloe, Sophia and Logan Patterson, Elijah Smith, and Vincent Bryant. A sister and brother in law, Ruby and Tony Bryant also survive.
Funeral services for Margaret Johns Lewis will be conducted on Tuesday May 26, 2020 at 1:00 pm from the Concord Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include, Paul Foster, Jesse Foster, Titus Foster, Daniel Lewis, Dakota Jackson, and Brandon Scoggins. Honorary pallbearers include, Aaron Patterson, Joseph Foster, Silvanus Foster, and Leroy Hall. The Lewis family will receive friends on Monday May 25 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Concord Church.
