Margaret Price Gravitt

Mrs. Margaret Price Gravitt, age 87 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday February 27, 2008 at Gordon Hospital. She was born on May 11, 1920, daughter of the late William Thomas Price and Altha Padgett Price. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gravitt was preceded in death by Rembert Orr Chastain, father of her children, and by her husband Agbert Gravitt. Brothers and sisters; Mae Greenway, Lucille McAfee, Artie Shope, Louise Bennett, Howard Price, and Charlie Price also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Bearden and her husband Jerry of Calhoun, and one son Jim Chastain and his wife Melba, of Canton. Grandchildren; Elizabeth and Ben Jones of Kennesaw, Curtis and Dalene Bearden of Canton, and Jason and Nicole Bearden of Calhoun, and great grandchildren; Alexander and Abigail Jones, Noah, Hollie, Matthew, Hannah, Kiani and Kailee Bearden also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Margaret Price Gravitt will be conducted Friday, at 2:00 p.m. from the Antioch Baptist Church, with Rev. William Roberts, Rev. Woody Lee and Rev. Curtis Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving will include Curtis Bearden, Jason Bearden, Jerry Price, Alan Price, Ben Jones and Dale Bennett. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will include Billy McAfee, Bill Price, Charles Tyner, Doug Parker, J.R. Kirby, J.W. Shope and the members of the Pioneer Sunday School Class. These people are asked to meet at the church on Friday at 1:45 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.
