Mrs. Margie Sue Long, age 65 of Resaca, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Gordon County on December 18, 1943, daughter of the late Joseph Carl Baker and Ruth Irene Serritt Baker. During her lifetime, Mrs. Long was employed with Apache Mills and was a member of Sugar Valley Church of God. She loved flowers and gardening, and was a faithful member of her church.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Talley of Greeneville, Tennessee; three daughters, Kim Serritt of Resaca, Angel Nicholson and her husband Barry of Adairsville, and Bridgett Miller and her husband Cleo of Resaca; grandchildren, Crysta Nicholson, Alley Nicholson, Jessy, Sky, and Angelic Wooten, Codie Miller, Ronald, Jessica, and Jeffrey Talley, Jason Serritt, and Nikki Burgess; and six great-grandchildren. A brother, Charles Baker and his wife Charlotte; two sisters, Retha Smith and Carolyn Bryant; special friends, Clara Shope, Vicky Jackson, Aja Hawkins, and nieces and nephews and her church family also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Sue Long will be conducted Saturday at 3:00pm from the Sugar Valley Church of God, with Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jimmy White, Tom Pickle, Jared Raines, Jeff Shugart, Lonnie Walker, and Gerald White. Mrs. Long will lie in state for visitation at the Sugar Valley Church of God, beginning at 5:00pm Friday until the funeral hour.
