Marie Ramey O'Shields

Mrs. Marie "Maw Maw" Ramey O'Shields, age 81 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010. She was born in Rabun County, GA on July 1, 1928, daughter of the late Nathaniel William Ramey and the late Ivalee Simmons Sea. She was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Mrs. O'Shields was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James O'Shields; a son, Billy O'Shields; brothers, Vaughn Ramey, L.T. Ramey, and J.C. Ramey; and a sister, Louise Williams.

Survivors include a son and daughters-in-law, Larry and Barbara O'Shields and Linda O'Shields, all of Calhoun; three daughters, Dianne Gentry and her husband Junior of Hiram, Becky Carter of Carrolton, and Cheryl Johnston and her husband Ricky of Calhoun; a brother, Bobby Ramey of Clayton; two sisters, Pauline Voyles and Betty York, both of Toccoa; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie "Maw Maw" Ramey O'Shields will be conducted Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 1:00pm from the Philadelphia Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim McCulley officiating. Interment will follow in the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving will be the Deacons of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are A.D. and Bea Bowman.

The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday after 12:00 noon. Mrs. O'Shields will lie in state at the church on Tuesday after 10:00am until the funeral hour at 1:00pm.
