Marie Riffey

Mrs. Marie Riffey, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on February 27, 1924, daughter of the late Claude and Johnsie Cook Scarbrough. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Riffey to whom she was married for 64 years, and a brother, Eugene Scarbrough.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Riffey of Greenwood, SC, and Larry and Vivian Riffey of Grandville, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Phillip Gee of Calhoun; two brothers, Charles Scarbrough and his wife Geraldine of Garden Grove, California, and Bobby Scarbrough of Florida; and three sisters, Evelyn Daly and her husband Don of Albany, GA, Edna Duncan of Columbus, Ohio, and Joann Fritchze of Florida. Grandchildren surviving are Patrick Gee, Kristi Owen, Kimi Ray, Sam Riffey, and Brian Griffith; and great-grandchildren, Braeden Gee, Raeven Gee, Ashley Owen, Rob Owen, Noah Owen, Donavan Griffith, Andrew Griffith, Tyler Griffith, Aly Riffey, Drew Johnson, Grant Johnson, and Jake Johnson. Aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Riffey will be conducted Tuesday, November 2nd at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Yoho officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Patrick Gee, Sam Riffey, Brian Griffith, Charles Allen, Gordon Tatum, and Jock Russell. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 10:15am. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Daly.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 6:00pm until 10:00pm.
