Marnell Buttrum

Mrs. Laura Marnell Buttrum, age 76 of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Gordon Hospital.

She was born on October 22, 1934, in Murray County, daughter of the late John Walter Beal and Alma Rose Cox Beal. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Joe Buttrum; two sisters, Opal Evans, and Odell Corn; and a brother, J.W. Beal. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairmount First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Buttrum is survived by three daughters, Teresa Eberly and her husband Nelson of Rydal, Vickey Foster and her husband Tim of Fairmount, and Rita Lacey and her husband Matt of Fairmount; a son, Ray Buttrum and his wife Kimberly of Ranger; two sisters, Earsell McElroy Crowe of Fairmount, and Estelle Gilbert of Calhoun; and grandchildren, Lindsey Foster, Joe and Jake Eberly, Emily Lacey and Carle Buttrum. Nieces, nephews, special friends, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Marnell Buttrum will be conducted Saturday, October 30th at 2:00pm from the Fairmount First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Langston officiating. Music will be arranged by Leah and Wesley Roach. Pallbearers will include David Sanford, Jeff Sanford, Kevin Blaylock, Greg Silvers, Michael Beal and Kevin Wehunt. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the church Saturday at 1:00pm. Mrs. Buttrum will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Interment will follow the service at the Johnson Cemetery in Fairmount.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
