Mr. Marvin Leslie Sheriff, age 78 of Cartersville, formerly of Calhoun, passed away Sunday July 25, 2010.
Mr. Sheriff was born in Gordon County on June 23, 1932, son of the late Gordon Daniel and Charlsie Sheriff. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1951 until becoming disabled in 1952. He was a member of the Masonic Order and a member of the House of Prayer Baptist Church.
Mr. Sheriff was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Sheriff; and four sisters, Elizabeth Shaw, Brinda Sheriff, Hazel Sheriff and Mary Ruth Sheriff.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Kay Sheriff and Daniel and Kathy Sheriff, all of Cartersville; two daughters, Charlene Nichols of Cartersville, and Gail Stegall of Calhoun; three brothers, Ottis, Kenneth, and David Sheriff, all of Calhoun; and a sister, Lucy Bryant of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Paul Hannah, Timmy Hannah, Dusty Hannah, Kevin Sheriff, Rickey Sheriff, Tyra Casey, Jeremy Nichols, Patrick Payne and Heather Hancock. Fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Marvin Sheriff will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers serving will include Travis Hannah, Dusty Hannah, Jeremy Nichols, Patrick Payne, Kevin Sheriff and Rickey Sheriff.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
