Mr. Marvin Richard Cooper, age 76 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his residence following several months of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on April 18, 1938, son of the late Roy and Essie Bowden Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gerald Cooper and Charles Edward Cooper; and a sister, Annie Ruth Freeman.
Mr. Cooper was retired from OJay Mills after 32 years. He enjoyed working on and repairing CB radios for 40 years.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Linda Casey Cooper of the home; a son, Richard Cooper of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jack Jerome White of St. Augustine, FL, and Sonja and Allen Coffey of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Nannie Sue and Winston Black of Calhoun; grandchildren, Timothy Cooper, Derick Cooper, Jeremy White, Casey White (Rachel), Emily White, Justin Coffey, Allison Coffey, and Cooper Coffey; and great-grandchildren, Savannah Davenport, Patrick Cooper, Ginger Cooper, Walter Cooper, Elizabeth Cooper, and Josh White. Other survivors include cousins, Evelyn Bennett of Calhoun, and Mildred Shugart of Rome; and Mr. Coopers best friends, Felton Floyd and Roger Tippens.
The Cooper family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to North Star Hospice; and caregivers, Robin Stallings and Amanda Hill.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Marvin Richard Cooper will be held Wednesday, July 30th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Eddie Brannon and Felton Floyd officiating. Music will be arranged by Casey and Rachel White. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Timothy Cooper, Derick Cooper, Jeremy White, Casey White, Greg Black, and Kenneth Casey. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Dalton Amateur Radio Club and the Calhoun Amateur Radio Club.
The Cooper family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
