Mr. Marvin William Young, Sr., age 81 of Ranger, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Gordon County on March 6, 1927, son of the late Bob and Minnie Townsend Young. Mr. Young was retired from the textile industry.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Verlon and Max Young; sisters, Alma Brannon, Ella Mae Silvers, and Suelane Mulkey; and a son-in-law, Tommy Buttrum.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Willene Tatum Young; two sons, Mr. Marvin Young, Jr. and his wife Susan, and Mr. Marlin Young; and a daughter, Angela Buttrum of Fairmount. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Marvin William Young, Sr. will be conducted Sunday, March 16 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Dutch Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Church of God Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Corey Young, Tony Tatum, Jackie Brannon, Steve Young, James Tatum, and Ed Tatum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
