Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Kirby

November 23, 1933 — February 22, 2025

Mary Elizabeth “Liz” (Martin) Kirby, 91, of Fairmount, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025. She was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on November 23, 1933, to the late George Otto and Willie Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grantham; and daughter, Tina Erwin.

Mary retired from Crown Craft and later worked at K-mart. She loved flowers, animals, and family gatherings. Mary had a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be forever cherished by family, and friends. Her legacy as a mother, and friend will endure, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman

Mary is survived by her son, Rickey (Cindy) Kirby; daughters, Diane Lanier and Connie Bennet; sisters, Willie Nell Eubanks and Betty Jean Ricker; grandchildren, Heather (Billy) Trammell, Jennifer (Heath) Derryberry, Kim (Matt) Norris, Brett (Lorrie) Bennett, Elizabeth (Jason) Ralston, Dustin (Lacey) Wilbanks; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28, 2024, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. 

The funeral service will follow on Friday at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. David Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Heath Derryberry, Brett Bennett, Matt Norris, Trey Bennett, Clay Evans, and Dustin Willbanks. 

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Mary Elizabeth “Liz” (Martin) Kirby.
