Obituary

Mary I. Davis, 85, of Calhoun and formerly of Cartersville passed away peacefully at her home while she was holding her Bible on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Mary was born in Cartersville on September 10, 1934; she was the daughter of the late Aulsey and Beatrice Young. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Davis; her son, Richard Eugene Davis; her brothers, Wofford and Owen Young. Mary was a member of the Crane Eater Community Church and loved the Word of God. She was an avid reader and had a green thumb.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Teresa Davis; her daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Pastor Howard Strickland; her grandchildren, Leigh Davis Churchwell, Daniel Strickland, Lauren Davis, Zachary Davis, Nathan Strickland, and Ellen Davis Tanner; her great-grandchildren, Addison Rylee Bullock, Kyndelle Aubry Pennyman, Jackson Luke Churchwell, and Kaelan Lanier Davis.
The Davis family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Crane Eater Community Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the church. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pastor Howard Strickland and Rev. C.E. Popham will officiate. Daniel Strickland, Nathaniel Strickland, Zachary Davis, Jimmy Holbert, Kenny Churchwell, and Donald Garland will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Crane Eater Community Church.
