Mrs. Mary Jo Erwin, age 89 of Calhoun, died Friday, July 29, 2011 at Gordon Health Care.
Mrs. Erwin was a native of Gordon County, daughter of the late R.D. (Duke) Thomas and the late Quillie Evelyn Parsons Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Stanton Erwin; a daughter, Alice Pass; brothers, Hazel Thomas, Troy Thomas, Junior Thomas, and Peanut Thomas; sisters, Earlene Allen, Jeanelle Phillips, and Jackie White; and a grandson, Parrish Erwin.
She was a member of the Victory Temple Church of God.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Linda Erwin, Randy and Wilma Erwin, Danny and Benita Erwin, and Timmy and Pam Erwin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Lamar Tomlinson, and Debbie and Henry Hunter; and a son-in-law, Mickey Pass, all of Calhoun. A sister, Helen Tate of Calhoun; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jo Erwin will be held Monday, August 1st at 11:00am from the Erwin Hill Church of God, with Pastor Keith Reid, Pastor Jeff Dutton, and Dr. James Shope officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Mitchell Gaston conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers are grandsons and include Rusty Gibbs, Todd Gibbs, Tony Tomlinson, Darren Pass, Drew Bell, Seth Erwin, Jeff Erwin, Monte Erwin, Gabe Erwin, and Jason Carney.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday after 5:00pm.
