Mrs. Mary M. (Lena) Johnson, age 70 of Ranger, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on June 10, 1940 in Brooks County, Georgia, daughter of the late Sam and Valley Smith Merritt. During her lifetime she enjoyed working with crafts, reading books and bird watching . She was employed in the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Murray Stephen Johnson, Jr., to whom she was married for 53 years; daughters, Faye Fields and her husband Jeff of Ranger, Carrie Christmas and her husband Michael of Calhoun, Stacy Long and her husband Jack of Sugar Valley; sons, Glenn Johnson and his wife Nancy of Lugoff, SC, Joe Johnson and his wife Carol of Pelham, GA, Howard Johnson of Louisiana, and Lee Roy Johnson and his wife Marie of Fairmount; a sister, Louise Calhoun of Madison, Florida; and a brother, Harold Merritt of Monticello, Florida. Thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary M. (Lena) Johnson will be conducted Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Audie Chapman, Jermey Long, Ricky Kilgore, and David DeFreese. Interment will follow the service in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
