Mrs. Mary Lou Taylor, age 88 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Gordon Health Care Center.

Mrs. Taylor was born on May 22, 1919 in Sand Mountain, Alabama, daughter of the late Benjamin Allen and Dessie Frix Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Gordon Taylor in 1976; by a son, Harry Lee Taylor; and by sisters, Ruby Sexton, Buena Parker, Martha Joye; and two brothers, Roy Allen and Dickey Allen. Mrs. Taylor was retired from OJ Mills, and was a member of College Street Church of God.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by one son, Lamar (Pierre) Taylor and his wife Joy of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Tamra Fowler and her husband Tom, Lisa Dewart and her husband Jan, Tony Taylor, Cameron Taylor, Courtney Taylor and his wife Wendy, Hugh Thomason and his wife Paula, Denita Davis and her husband Gary, and Gina Hibner and her husband Gus. Eighteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Ruthell Taylor of Acworth, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Taylor will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00pm from the College Street Church of God, with Pastor Donald Lee officiating. Mrs. Taylor will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Singing will be arranged by Kelly Fowler and Kathy Talley. Active pallbearers serving will include Cameron Taylor, Courtney Taylor, Tony Taylor, Michael Medellin, Austin Fowler, Dustin Fowler, Tony Eifert and Brandon Taylor. Honorary escort will include Brother Lamar Hand, Charlie Allen, Clarence Burger, Tommy Fowler, Larry Thomason, Bobby Walraven, Otto Timms, Tony Holsomback and Eddie Taylor. Interment will follow the service at Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday evening, during the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
