Mrs. Mary Rutha Geckles, age 63 of Resaca, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Scottsboro, Alabama on January 24, 1945, daughter of the late Curtis and Ella Anderton. Mrs. Geckles was a homemaker during her lifetime and was a member of Dalton Free Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. Geckles, a son, Billy Geckles, a daughter, Angela Geckles, and twins Timmy and Tommy Geckles.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Joey Cortazal of Naples, Florida, and Cynthia and Rick Croft of Bessemer City, North Carolina; two sisters, Betty Todd of Guntersville, Alabama, and Ruby Windsor of New Hope, Alabama; five brothers, Leonard Anderton of Greun, Alabama, Arthur Anderton and his wife Rita of Albertville, Alabama, Thomas Anderton and his wife Pat of Grant, Alabama, Kenneth Anderton and his wife Vickie of Oxr, Alabama, and Edward Anderton and his wife Kay of Grant, Alabama. Four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Rutha Geckles will be conducted Saturday, September 27 at 12:00 noon from the Dalton Free Holiness Church, with Rev. Ed Atchley and Rev. Todd McClain officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be brothers of the Dalton Free Holiness Church. The family will receive friends at the church after 12:00 noon on Friday.
