Mattie Pilcher

Mrs. Mattie (Kay) Pilcher, age 95 of Fairmount, GA, died Friday, October 19, 2012 at Calhoun Health Care.

She was born in Gordon County on September 20, 1917, daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Kay and Ostra Ovalee Duncan Kay. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Jensen Pilcher; brothers, Arthur Kay and C.M. Kay; and sisters; Battie Sutton, Bertha Dutton, Lois Pendley, Jessie Parker, Carrebelle Stephens, Clara Proctor, Effie McDearis, Ruby Colston, Frances Smith and Emma Kay.

Mrs. Pilcher was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in the Sonoraville Community, where she had served as Choir Director and sang with various gospel groups over the years.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Silvers and her husband Charles of Fairmount, and Jane Dobbins and her husband Mike of Resaca; four grandchildren, Kasey Stone and her husband Chris, Brent Silvers and his wife Kelly, Angie Dobbins, and Charles Dobbins; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon Stone and Aspen Stone. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie (Kay) Pilcher will be conducted Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. James Shope, Mike Dobbins and Rev. Jason Parker officiating. Active pallbearers will include Steve Rickett, Jeffrey Dutton, Scotty Kay, Dennis Miller, Charles Dobbins and Billy Kay. Deacons and their wives of Bethlehem Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens.

The Pilcher family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
