Maude Massingill Talley

Mrs. Maude Massingill Talley, age 99 of Calhoun died Friday, January 9th at Gordon Hospital.

Mrs. Talley was born in Whitfield County, GA on December 16, 1915, daughter of the late, Henry Massingill and Mary Christian Massingill and she lived the greater part of her life in Gordon County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Talley and five daughters; Ruby Whaley of Dalton and four infant daughters, Jene, Brenda, Linda and Shirley Talley. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren and her twin brother, Claude Massingill and sister, Wyama Burdett. Mrs. Talley was a longstanding member of Echota Baptist Church.

Mrs. Talley is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws; Geneva and Don Klotz of Resaca, GA and Gwen and Charles Harris of Plainville, GA as well as four sons and daughters-in-law; Bud and Marie Talley of Dalton, Clayton and Doris Talley of Tunnell Hill, GA; Vernon and Martha Talley and Ken and Sandi Talley all of Calhoun, GA and a son-in-law Hoyt Whaley of Dalton; her sister, Leola Burchfield. Mrs. Talley was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Maude Massingill Talley will be held on Monday January 12th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dwaine Shaddix officiating. Interment will follow at the Hill City Cemetery following the services.
Active pallbearers serving include Mrs. Talley's grandsons and honorary pallbearers will include her granddaughters.

The Talley family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday January 11th beginning at 5:00 P.M.
