Maudell Williams

October 25, 1920 — February 24, 2008

Mrs. Maudell "Granny" Williams, age 87 of Calhoun, GA., died Sunday, February 24th in Gordon Hospital following two and a half years of declining health.

Mrs. Williams was born in Gordon County on October 25, 1920, daughter of the late Bevie H. and Rosa Sara Watkins Suggs. Her children and grandchildren were the delight of her life. She enjoyed the outdoors working in her garden growing vegetables and flowers, and she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Stephen Williams; one brother, Julian Suggs; four sisters, Dora Lee Brown, Annie Mae Evans, Helen Williams and Donna V. Boling, and by one great grandchild, Bobby Glenn Burchett.

Survivors include one son, B.H. Williams and his wife Linda of Adairsville, Georgia; one daughter, Elizabeth Coldwell and her husband Floyd of Calhoun; and one brother, Sam Suggs of Atlanta, Georgia. Nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maudell "Granny" Williams will be held Tuesday, February 26th at 3:30 PM, from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Alvin Suggs officiating. Interment will follow in Campbell Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include grandsons, Lamar Williams, Stephen Williams, Matthew Williams, Jerry Burchett, Mark Burchett and Clyde Burchett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening after 7: 00 PM.
