Mr. Max Lewis, age 86 of Calhoun, died Friday, June 19, 2015 after an extended period of declining health. He was born in Gordon County, Georgia on September 1, 1928, son of the late Fain C. Lewis and Annie Moss Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Stewart, Mildred Strickland, and Denah Underwood; and by five brothers, Troy Lewis, Charles Lewis, Ralph Lewis, Herman Lewis, and Eugene Lewis.

Max was a 1947 graduate of Red Bud High School, and had retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from October 1950 until October 1952. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Nascar, and was a licensed private pilot.

Mr. Lewis is survived by three sisters, Vonnie Truitt of Adrian, MI, Betty Whitfield of Calhoun, and Irene Mooneyham of Marietta; his brother, Vernon Lewis; along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Max Lewis will be held Tuesday, June 23rd at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving will include Alan Mooneyham, Terry Whitfield, Chuck Burnette, Jimmy (Dwydale) Dutton, David Gibson, and Tripp Morrison.

The family of Max Lewis will receive friends Monday, June 22nd, at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
