Mrs. Melba Claxton Talley, age 68 of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away November 7, 2007 at the home of her son in Duncan, SC. She was born in Shelbyville, TN on June 7, 1939, daughter of Claude Claxton and the late Wilsie Ashby Cowart. Mrs. Talley was retired from the Standard Coffee Company. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Chattanooga and attended Mt. Vernon Pisgah Church in Alpharetta.
Survivors include her father, Claude Claxton; two sons, Kenneth G. Scott of Duncan, SC and Randall K. Scott of Piedmont, SC; and four grandchildren; Adam, Jonathan, Mary Catherine, and Lawrence. An aunt and uncle, Jimmy and Wanda Williams of Meridianville, AL also survive. Special thanks to all her friends, Visiting Angels, Vista Hospice Care, and to a special companion, Ron Daddea.
Funeral services for Mrs. Melba Claxton Talley will be conducted Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Vista Care Hospice or the Alzheimers Association.
