The Shepherd called, Momma answered. Mary Mellany Blalock, 75 of Calhoun, GA left this world and entered into everlasting life November 1, 2012. Mellany was a radiant, devoted Christian, a loving example to her family, friends, and church. All who knew her knew she loved her Lord and Savior. With patience of Job she fought a good fight, she kept the faith.

Mellany was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Cole Witt; and brothers, Ernest Witt, Harold Witt, and John Witt, Jr.

Survivors include her loving husband, Howard Blalock; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Danny Thomason of Dalton, GA, Caroline and Jackie Pitts of Dalton, and Gail and Jim Costilus of Dallas, TX; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Teresa Parks of Dalton, Raymond and Jean Parks of Calhoun, and Steve and Vickie Parks of Dalton; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Frank Gentry of Calhoun; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Olivia Blalock of Great Falls, Montana; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Betty Witt of Tunnel Hill, GA, Roy and Avanell Witt of Tunnel Hill, and W.C. "Billy" and Ann Witt of Calhoun; sisters, Zola Boring of Tellico Plains, TN, Jane Keith of Cleveland, TN, and Thelma Burton of Calhoun; and special friends, Wanda and James Whaley of Dalton. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary Mellany Blalock will be held Sunday, November 4th at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Bro. Danny Thomason and Rev. Jackie Pitts officiating. Music will be arranged by Caroline Pitts, Joann Thomason, and Wanda Whaley. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with James Whaley conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Miracle Thomas, Kelly Parks, Jim Costilus, Danny Thomason, Gerald Parks, and Raymond Parks.

The Blalock family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
