Melvin Anderson Land

Mr. Melvin Anderson Land, age 72 of Blue Ridge, GA died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta following several years declining health.

He was born in Whitfield County, GA on May 19, 1941, son of the late Arthur and Mary Land, and had resided in Gordon County prior to moving to Gilmer County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Winters Land in 2010.

Mr. Land was employed with Dalton Coaters for 30 years. He was a member of Resaca Assembly of God.

He leaves behind two sons, Donnie Jones of Ellijay, and Bobby Jones and his wife Ann of Blue Ridge; a daughter, Deborah Moore and her husband Carl of Suches, GA; three sisters, Pauline Jones, Geneva Barnett, and Delia Wimpy, all of Dalton; and a special cousin, E.G. Land of Calhoun. Ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Anderson Land will be held Friday, October 18th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eric Davenport and Rev. Hal Painter officiating. Music will be arranged by Carl Moore. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery on Hall Memorial Road.

The Land family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM.
