Mettie Elizabeth Hendrix

Mrs. Mettie Elizabeth Hendrix, age 88 of Ranger, GA, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Gordon Health Care following several years of declining health. She was born in Pickens County, GA on August 9, 1923, the last child of the late Neal and Annie Chastain Young. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Randolph Hendrix; a son, Rembert Hendrix; three brothers, Joe Young, Charlie Young, and William Young; four sisters, Julie Stone, Violet Silvers, Vesti Young, and Janelle Mulkey; two grandchildren, Grant Everett and Randy Hendrix; and daughters-in-law, Lula Bell Hendrix and Juanita Hendrix.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hendrix was employed with Embassy Carpets, and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Clinton Hendrix, Truman Hendrix and his wife Glenda, and Blanton Hendrix and his wife Kate, all of Ranger; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Hendrix; and ten grandchildren, Jeff Hendrix, Jaronda Crook, Rochelle Cantrell, Karen Hendrix, Charlene Bramlett, Greg Hendrix, Fanchon Stuart, Jason Hendrix, Charity Queen, and Chanda Reese. Eighteen great-great grandchildren, eleven great-great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mettie Elizabeth Hendrix will be held Monday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Roy Smith officiating. Music will be arranged by the Noland Family. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Pickens County. Grandsons, great-grandsons, and great-great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The Hendrix family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday after 12:00 noon.
