Michael Shane Carter

Michael Shane Carter, 43, of Calhoun, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015. He was born in Dalton on June 12, 1971, son of the late Gerald Carter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Loretta Greeson.

He was a member of the 1989 graduating class of Calhoun High School. He worked as a crane operator at Gerdau Inc., and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy Greeson Carter; his mother, Carolyn Dooley Carter Griffin; son, Colby Shane Carter; daughter, Laura Faye Carter; brothers, Kevin Choate and his wife Patti Stamey Choate and Scott Carter and his wife Angie; brother-in-law, Kent Greeson and his wife Debbie; grandchildren, Bryson Carter and BreiLynn Carter; nieces and nephews, Halie, Sara, Kevin Jr., Hannah, Melia, Olivia, and Emily.

Services to honor the life of Michael Shane Carter will be held Saturday, May 30th at 3:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Kenny Sheriff officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Patrick James, Todd Rutledge, Brent Hall, Billy West, Kym McNeese, and Bill Talley. Honorary pallbearers are fellow employees of Gerdau Inc.

The Carter family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
