Mildred Baker

Mrs. Mildred Braden Baker, age 92 of Plainville, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 after several years of declining health. Mrs. Baker was born in Floyd County on September 17, 1920, daughter of the late Robert Earnest and Josephine Elizabeth Braden. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James (Bud) Walton Baker; a son, James Howard Baker; a brother, Sidney Braden; and two sisters, Lola Mae Turner and Elizabeth Braden.

She was retired from Gordon Hospital, was a faithful member of College Street Church of God, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and neighbor.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Baker and his wife Jada of Silver Creek, and Claude Baker and his wife Ruby of Calhoun; a sister, Frances Abernathy of Calhoun; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and several neices and nephews. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mildred Braden Baker will be held on Sunday, March 10, at 2:00p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakview Nursing Home in Summerville, and to Betty Nally for their special care of Mrs. Baker.
