Mildred Geneva Whitener

Mrs. Mildred Geneva Whitener, age 73 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. She was born in Gordon County on September 23, 1938, daughter of the late Roy and Eula Mae Jones Bridges. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James David Whitener; two sons, Terry Wayne Haygood and Raymond Whitener; and three brothers, James Bridges, Clarence Bridges, and Leroy Bridges.

Mrs. Whitener was a homemaker and mother during her lifetime. She loved her dog "Candy" and her rose garden.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Judy Haygood of Taylorsville, GA, Timmy and Mary Ann Haygood of Cartersville, GA, and Larry and Tammy Haygood of Taylorsville; and two daughters, Barbara Ballew and her husband Jimmy of Tallapoosa, GA, and Lynn Pless and Brian Allen of Calhoun. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Geneva Whitener will be held Wednesday, February 22nd at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Tony Lyle and David Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers include David Haygood, Larry Haygood, Daniel Haygood, Michael Haygood, Jimmy Ballew, and Brian Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Haygood and Mike Griffith.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
