Mildred Parker Alred Casteel

Mrs. Mildred Parker Alred Casteel, age 82 of Cartersville, formerly of Calhoun, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center. She was born in Dekalb County, AL on May 19, 1929, daughter of the late Charley and Buna Estelle Allen Parker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raymond (Ray) Casteel; three brothers, Duell Parker, Charley Parker, Jr., and Roland Parker; a sister-in-law, Claudia Parker; and a brother-in-law, Buck Dover.

Mrs. Casteel was a retired cosmetologist and had owned and operated her own beauty salon. She had also been employed in past years with Harold's Beauty Shop, Bea's Beauty Shop, and Ricardo's in Atlanta. She was a member of the Resaca Christian Fellowship.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Noreen Vonnell Alred Whittaker and Jimmy of Marietta, GA; three sisters, Sue Dover, Faye Langston and her husband Richard, and Jeanne Hobgood and her husband Jim, all of Calhoun; two sisters-in-law, Wilene Parker and Jessie Parker; grandchildren, Amy Foster, Fonda Semerjian, and Yancey Whittaker; and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Meghan, and David Foster, Elijah and Van Semerjian, and Benjamin Whittaker. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Parker Alred Casteel will be held Sunday, August 14th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Parker and Rev. Vince Gulledge officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Rome. Active pallbearers will include Chuck Langston, Jeff Langston, Tim Langston, David Prater, and Kevin Parker. Honorary pallbearers are J. Yancey Whittaker, Jim Hobgood, Richard Langston, Roy Parker, and Ricky Parker.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
